Ray is the Program Manager for Customer Communities at Autodesk. HIs role is to develop and nurture healthy, vibrant, customer communities, and to act as a central point of contact for Autodesk communities and user groups, both online and face-to-face.
Ray leads the Community Council (formerly Populus), a cross-divisional and cross-functional team of Autodesk community owners and representatives that meets regularly to address how Autodesk and its partners can create and foster strong, committed, and passionate Autodesk user communities.
He is a lifelong learner, and holds Bachelors’ degrees in Sociology and City Planning, and has a Masters in Education and Online Learning, his thesis focusing on the development of online learning communities.
Ray holds several local, national, and international technical writing awards, and is a published author and editor co-authoring the following books on AutoCAD Map:

Ray hails from Manchester in Northwest England, home of Manchester United, the greatest soccer club on the planet. He married his native-born California bride, Betsy, and moved to Oakland in 1984 from where the couple has never strayed.
Originally a city planner in London, Ray joined Autodesk in 1989. He has worked in many departments during his 20-year tenure including Technical Publications, Data Management, GIS, Location Services, and Trainiing, and moved into his current community role in 2008.
Ray is passionate about soccer and holds state and national soccer coaching and refereeing licenses. He currently coaches a youth soccer team in the San Francisco Bay Area, and has taken several youth teams to play in Europe.
